Welcome to
Mrs. Kramer's Homepage!
*Look for a link to our "NEW" homepage in the near future. We are currently under construction! In the meantime, I hope you find the following information helpful!
Daily Homework: Students should be reading for 20 minutes each day. Please feel free to incorporate the Blue "Daily Reading Packets" as part of the 20 minutes of required reading or explore literature of your choice! In addition to reading, please encourage your second grader to practice writing skills in a daily journal.
Reading: In addition to practicing MLPP within the classroom we have begun exploration of SRA as an independent activity a couple days each week. Students will read short stories, at their own ability level, and then complete comprehensions, grammar based activities, and word building activities in a MEAP style format.
Writing: We will continue to strengthen our skills of adding details and voice to our writing; however, we will focus on leads this month. Our "leads" choices will include using an opening question or onomatopoeia (noisy words such as Buzz, Whoosh, etc.) to grab our reader’s attention.
Math: We will continue to explore measurements and multiplication, but will also add a focus on fractions during the next several weeks.
Science: We have begun our explorations with plants. (More information to follow)
Social Studies: We will continue explorations with maps. Over the next several weeks we will host community members in the classroom to share their occupations with us through literature and hands-on explorations.
