Weekly Classwork

Spelling:   With spelling, the students will always recieve a list of words on paper and will be instructed to also write the list into their daily planners. This way, they can put their paper list on the fridge with a magnet for home and have it at school in their planners.  We also do spelling activities such as the typical 3 times a piece for extra review and games like "Sparkle" and "Spelling Basketball."

Reading:  As a class, the students are immersed weekly into the multiple genres, which we cover in 5th grade. Together, we read a story on Mondays and on Tuesdays/Wednesdays, we have center work, where the students read a similar story in a small group, along with me.

Grammar:  Together we go over each grammar topic by week using a grammar text and then the students practice the topic in centers.  On Thursdays, we do a lesson on the topic together as a whole group. 

ELA Tests: (Spelling, Reading, Grammar)  The students are given an ELA test on Fridays with a comprehensive coverage of categories in language arts through the week.
