Welcome to First Grade!

First grade is the FIRST Grade for students to become great readers and writer.  In order for your child to be successful they need to practice reading nightly.  Please make sure that your child brings home their reading buddy nightly.  You will be amazed at the growth doing this simple thing.

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Lori L. Katt, this is my first year here at McAlear.  I have been teaching in the Bay City Public Schools for 15 years and have loved every minute of it!  I graduated from Central Michigan University, with a major in Child Development and a minor in Reading.  I continued my education at Saginaw Valley University and received my Masters in Reading with the At-Risk child.  

I have a beautiful 19 year old daughter, named Marlee who is currently attending Delta College.  I enjoy reading, dancing and walking along the riverwalk.
